Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have officially joined Donald Trump’s presidential transition team, according to a recent statement from Trump’s campaign. Campaign adviser Brian Hughes shared that Trump’s base of support continues to grow across party lines, and Kennedy and Gabbard have been welcomed onto the Trump-Vance transition team.
Kennedy himself confirmed the move during an interview, expressing his anticipation for helping select the government officials who would serve under Trump’s potential second term. Kennedy, who recently suspended his independent presidential bid, has decided to back Trump, keeping his name on ballots only in states where his candidacy wouldn’t affect the overall election result.
In response to his campaign’s conclusion, Kennedy stated his commitment to working with Trump’s team on policy issues. “I don’t know what would happen to me if we lose,” Kennedy remarked, expressing his determination to fight for a Trump victory.
Meanwhile, Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, publicly endorsed Trump during an event in Detroit. She emphasized Trump’s willingness to engage with both allies and adversaries to achieve peace, noting the heightened global tensions and the looming threat of nuclear conflict.
Additionally, Trump recently announced the appointment of Linda McMahon, former WWE executive, and billionaire Howard Lutnick as co-chairs of his transition team. His sons Donald Jr. and Eric, along with running mate Senator JD Vance, will also serve as honorary chairs.
Kennedy, who began his presidential run as a Democratic challenger to Joe Biden before switching to an independent bid, faced dwindling voter interest over the summer. This occurred after Biden withdrew from the race, paving the way for Kamala Harris’ candidacy.
During a rally in Arizona, Trump welcomed Kennedy’s endorsement and vowed to release remaining files related to the assassination of Kennedy’s uncle, John F. Kennedy. Kennedy praised Trump as someone who could “make America healthy again” and protect against totalitarianism.
However, Kennedy’s endorsement of Trump has sparked criticism from several members of his family, who feel that it goes against their values. Kennedy responded by acknowledging the division within his family but emphasized their long tradition of engaging in debates while maintaining respect and love for one another.
