Fox News has proposed hosting a second presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in October, with three possible dates and locations. The network confirmed this on September 10, offering a 90-minute debate moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Fox News made this offer just after the first debate, held on the same day in Philadelphia and broadcast by ABC News, where Trump and Harris discussed major issues such as the economy, immigration, and foreign policy.
Fox News executives Jay Wallace and Jessica Loker sent a letter to both campaigns, reaffirming their interest in hosting another debate. The letter proposed potential dates: October 9 in Arizona, October 15 in Georgia, and October 16 in North Carolina.
While Fox had previously offered to host a debate in May, Harris declined, as she and Trump had already agreed to participate in the ABC debate. However, following the conclusion of the first debate, Harris’s campaign indicated that she was ready for another round.
Trump, in an interview with Fox News, expressed satisfaction with the first debate, calling it "the best ever," but suggested he might participate in a second debate if it were hosted by a more impartial network. He also implied that Harris was eager for a rematch because she lost the first debate.
In their letter, Wallace and Loker outlined the debate format, noting that the candidates would have no props or prewritten notes and that a coin toss would decide podium placements and the order of closing statements. They emphasized Fox News's capabilities and reputation in facilitating informed political discussions at a crucial time for the country. Both campaigns have been contacted for further comment.
